One of my friends invited me to attend a party at Saint, a dance club/lounge bar in Boston's Back Bay. The theme was 'Back to the Bordello" so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Saint is supposed to be one of these high-end clubs. But after seeing the place, my reaction is = WTF? Don't expect any of these bars in Boston to resemble places like the Buddha Bar in Manhattan's meatpacking district, Tao, Pure, Prive, or the Hard Rock in Vegas, or any of the clubs in Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong or the river walk in Singapore. Just like a lot of clubs/bars in Boston, Saint looks like a dump and the ambiance is a tad provincial....Yet they still have the gall to serve ridiculously overpriced drinks...*sigh*
In keeping with its Bordello theme, Saint had "live" sculptures to spruce up the place. They were basically models in black lacy thongs and body paint. Someone even had the cheesy idea of turning on the fluorescent klieg lights on one of the models that was sprawled naked on the platform nearest to the dancefloor. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the place...Here's a photo of one of the "live sculptures" in the bordello anyway.
